24-year-old rookie righthander Mel (Melvin Joseph) Queen made four early-season relief appearances for the 1942 New York Yankees - he spent the balance of that season shuttling between three Yankee farm teams. His son, Melvin Douglas Queen, would make his major league debut with Cincinnati 24 years later.
