Southpaw Bill Kirk was the A's starter against Cleveland on Saturday, September 23, 1961 in front of 1,612 fans at Kansas City's Municipal Stadium. Kirk went three innings, allowing four runs on six hits and a walk in what would prove to be his only major league appearance.
