25-year-old rookie righthander Bill Harrington made his major league debut as the third of four A's pitchers used in an 11-6 loss to the Red Sox on Thursday, April 16, 1953 at Connie Mack Stadium. Although he would return to the majors in 1955 with Kansas City, he made just the one appearance with Philadelphia.
