Originally signed by the Mets, infielder Manny Castillo was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1975 minor league draft. He was subsequently taken by the Kansas City Royals in the 1979 Rule V draft and went on to make his major league debut with that club in 1980. Castillo never appeared in a major league game with St. Louis.
